Square Wonton at your service to give you my exclusive opinions on games and gaming. "Why should I care?!?" you might find yourself asking. I can find a few reasons here and there that might entice you to follow my gaming blog.
- "And before you comment, yes I'm a girl and yes I play the game" - Codex, The Guild. Not only do I play the game, I play lots of games. And I am a girl. Game addict'd.
- When it comes to board games, I have a rock solid group that I game with every Sunday night. If I am not on the up-and-up with new games, they will be. I can also give you a wide perspective on games because someone I game with will like that specific type of game.
- I have a wonderful nerdy personality. Certain, more complicated games will include video explanations showcasing said personality :3
Want to know the plan? So do I. XD A lot of this will be refined as I go along. I plan on writing and recording monthly board game reviews on the best board games available. I may throw in a video game review here or there; we'll see. Every year I attend Dragon*Con in Atlanta, I'll report on the games all the cool nerds are playing (meaning the games you should play) and the must have games for the upcoming holidays. If you have ideas, suggest away!
Format
The games will be reviewed based on the individual game type. Don't worry, I won't try to compare Small World and Bananagrams - that's just ridiculous. Included will be my recommendation on number of players, game length, I will give you a brief synopsis including the end goal, the turn process, and a basic break-down of all the rules. Photos will be included, and video of anything I would rather show you than try to explain in text. I will try to play the game of the month four Sunday's in a row so I can give you an adequate review. I'll also include any tips, tricks, or strategies I find. Feel free to suggest your own, and not only will I try it out, I will add it to the game review.
I will give 1 through 6 (one being the lowest, six the highest) on the following stats:
Brawn - Can this game hold its own in a one-on-one duel to the death with another game in its genre?
Appeal - Did the designers give it their all? Does it look like someone threw this together in 10 minutes???
Damage - Will this game break the bank?
Amusement - Is it worth playing even once? Or is this game the crack you've been looking for?
Skill - Can a three year old become a master or does this game take time to learn?
Square Wonton's Approval - Despite or because of the other categories, what is my overall take?
